softmatter:Spherical Micelles

From NSDL Materials Digital Library Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Spherical micelles are found for a variety of microphase separating systems, such as surfactants, block copolymers, and tethered building blocks.

Spherical micelles form in both dense and dilute solutions. Dense solutions of spherical micelles often adopt a crystalline packing between micelles, such as BCC, and are in general referred to as Cubically Ordered Spherical Micelles. Such long range ordering is not usually found for dilute solutions, unless long range interactions are present.
